The author writes that the history of a kid is “one part fact, two parts legend, and three parts snowball.” Ask students to write a descriptive recipe for Maniac Magee based on this formula. Guide them with questions such as: What parts are fact? What parts are legend? What parts are snowball? You might also wish to have students explain what they think is meant by snowball. Invite students to share their Maniac Magee recipes with the class.
