WRITE WELCOMING MESSAGES
Write on chart paper the words that story characters say that might hurt others' feelings. Read them aloud. Leave space below each sentence for children to help write words of welcome to a friend or sibling, such as You can come or Please play with me. Encourage children to write the letters for the sounds that they know.
I don't want you tagging along.
Why don't you go play on the swings and stay out of the way?
You'll just mess it up.
Stay away from my castle.
