About this book
Cross-Curricular Activities
Health: Brainstorm with students the type of clothing that is needed for given weather conditions. You might want to create a large semantic map to go with your discussion. Write Weather Conditions in the center. Have children first think of and state the conditions, then the types of clothes needed for each condition. Write their suggestions to create the semantic web.
Language Arts: This book lends itself well to choral reading where each child has an opportunity to participate. After copying the various lines onto sentence strips, give each child a strip. Have them sit in a circle in order, so that once the reading begins you'll be able to keep the flow. When a new line is read, a child reads solo. However, the whole class is expected to read the repeated lines. As the story progresses, then, the whole class will end up reading the story!
