Research Spiders

MATERIALS

  • Books about spiders
  • Chart paper

Make a KWL Chart labeled Spiders. Explain to your students that a K-W-L chart is useful for organizing what they know, what they want to know, and what they learned about a specific topic. Ask children to share their knowledge about spiders. Then invite them to generate questions they have about spiders. Fill in the chart.

Take children to the library. Talk about where to find information. As you look through the books, explain the Table of Contents and other features.

After you have finished your research, fill in the chart with everything you learned about spiders.

Observation: What kinds of questions do children generate?
