It Looked Like Spilt Milk Lesson Plan
- Grades: PreK–K, 1–2
About this book
- It Looked Like Spilt Milk by Charles Shaw
- 8 1/2" X 11" sheets of blue construction paper (1 per student)
- bottles of white glue (glue needs to dry white)
- pens or dark markers
- paper punch
- paper fasteners
Have students use a marker and a sheet of blue paper to draw the outline of a shape. Students should then sound out the name of the shape, and use the marker to label the bottom of their paper.
Using the glue, students should then trace the outline of their shape, and spread more glue inside the borders. If the glue is too runny, let the border dry before filling it in with more glue. If the glue dries clear, try adding a little white tempera paint. When all the papers are labeled and dry, use the paper punch and fasteners to create a class book.
Have students try to create other illustrations using cotton balls, white paint, white felt, or white pipe cleaners.
