Unit Plan
Exploration - Widening Our Horizons
By
Bryna Watkins, Valeta Pafford
- Grades: 3–5
Overview
Exploration is a multi-dimensional theme — from exploring the world ourselves as we do in a science lesson, to learning about the explorers of the past as we do in studying the explorers of the New World. The opening of the New World created an outlet for the discontented and dispossessed of Europe, which relates back to the lessons on immigration and family stories that we did in September.
Objective
Students will:
- Discuss the difficulties of exploration and some of the motivations for exploration.
