Choose from the following activities:
- Write a how-to manual about surviving in the Arctic from Russel's point of view. Include what he learned about getting food, making shelter, surviving the cold, and running the dogs.
- Write an essay on the theme, Life is a journey. Express your opinions on the theme; describe how you plan to make the journey of your life a good one.
- Work with a group of students to make a mural of the story of Russel's dream. If possible, find examples of Eskimo art in a reference book to base your drawings on. Display the mural for the rest of the class to see.
- Write a description of a memorable dream you've had. The dream may have frightened you, inspired you, or made you understand something about yourself. If you like, illustrate a scene from the dream to accompany your description.
