Interview Animal Lovers

MATERIALS:

• Paper
• Pencils
• Tape recorder (optional)

SUGGESTED GROUPING:

• Individuals

ENCOURAGE children to interview family members or friends about an animal they own or have owned.

TELL children to think of questions ahead of time that they will want to ask, such as: How does the animal act? Does the animal do anything unusual? Does it seem particularly smart, funny, or brave?

ASK children to share their interviews with the class by making informal oral presentations.

TECHNOLOGY

Speaking Skills Suggest children record their interviews on audiotape. Then have them listen to the recordings and write summaries of the interviews in a word processing program.
