Create a Naughty Character Book

What you need:

  • Paper
  • Drawing materials
  • Stapler

What to do together:

Invite your child to create a character like David and write and illustrate a story based on this character. Tell her that the character can be a human or animal. Ask your child to think of one or several settings to place the character into. What type of mischief will the character get into? Encourage her to be imaginative and to have fun. Create a cover and staple the pages together to create book.

David Explains His Behavior

Ask your child to think about what David might say if he was asked to explain his behavior. Reread the book with your child. Take turns pretending to be David explaining his behavior. For instance, David can tell his teacher he is tardy because his alarm clock did not go off or...
