A Bushel of Bears

MATERIALS

  • Old stuffed animals
  • Ropes
  • Tape measures
  • Pan balance
  • Magnifiers
  • Paper
  • Pencils
  • Crayons or markers

Invite children to bring old teddy bears or other stuffed animals to school. Children can categorize their bears by color, length, weight, age, or some other category.

  • Invite children to set up their own teddy bear store, encouraging them to display the bears in a variety of ways. Provide paper for price tags, signs, or bear names. Children can also count the number of bears collected, and display the total for everyone to see.
  • Use the bears for counting eyes, legs, arms, and for any teddy bear games.
