Overview

Kindergarten explores the seasons and the months of the year through literature, poetry, science, math, art, drama, and movement. The children will learn which month is their birthday month and in which season it comes. An author study will be done on Maurice Sendak and his book Chicken Soup with Rice will be used in a dramatization.

Objective

Students will:

  1. Identify their own birthday's day, month, and season.
  2. Name the four seasons.
  3. Memorize at least one poem from Maurice Sendak's book, Chicken Soup with Rice, and dramatize the story.
  4. Recite the months of the year and say how many days in each month.
  5. Associate different types of weather to a season.
