VOCABULARY

Before introducing the following words from the book, point out that good writers don't write “down” for young people, but expect their readers to “stretch” when it comes to unfamiliar words. Have students work in pairs or groups of three. Assign words to each group. Explain that the groups should make up a game or puzzle using their words. For example, they might create crossword puzzles, matching games, or word searches with definitions. Have the groups exchange their games so other classmates can play or complete them.
