ACT IT OUT

Draw a large mountain on mural paper to represent Blueberry Hill. Children will enjoy adding trees, blueberry bushes, and a big rock. Place the mural on the floor or wall to use as scenery.

As you narrate the story, invite children to play the roles of Little Sal, her mother, Little Bear, his mother, and perhaps the mother crow, mother partridge, and their children. To include a larger number of children, they can also role-play the blueberry bushes, rocks, pail, and other elements in the story.
