Write Names in Pictures

MATERIALS:

  • Drawing paper
  • Crayons or markers

SUGGESTED GROUPING:

  • Whole class and individuals

HAVE children illustrate the letters in their first name. Ask them to write their first name in large capital letters across a sheet of paper.

BELOW each letter, have children draw a picture to illustrate the letter; for example, an apple for A or a rainbow for R.

DISPLAY the pictures in the classroom. Invite children to view each other's work and identify each letter's picture.

GRADE by looking for illustrations that match the letters.
