An oasis is an area in the middle of the desert where there is an underground water source, such as a well or a spring. This allows vegetation to grow in the oasis. Oases can be large or small.
Even though we often use the words bug and insect to mean the same thing, bugs and insects are different. Bugs are a type of insect. They are distinct because of they way they eat. Bugs feed through a stylet, which is a long, pointed mouthpiece, shaped sort of like a beak. Bugs suck up their food through the stylet.

Primates use their fingernails to help them climb trees or dig for food. When we evolved from being primates, our claws flattened. Now, we still use them as tools, but they have different functions. We use our nails for many things, such as scratching an itch, peeling fruits, opening cans, undoing knots, and so on.

Have you ever wondered why some dogs turn around in circles before they curl up for a nap? Dogs do this out of instinct, or a natural impulse or habit. Scientists think there are several different explanations for this. Some scientists think a dog's instinct to do this comes from their wild dog ancestors. Wild dogs would circle to trample down grass and scare away pests. They did this to make their beds more comfortable.
