Bio

Valirie A. Morgan is a member of the Scholastic Kids Press Corps.

Valirie is a veteran Scholastic Kid Reporter who covered the 2004 presidential election. She is in the ninth grade at Hillcrest High School in Dallas, Texas.

Favorite Subject: Newspaper class or English

Favorite Book: The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown

Favorite Music: rock, country, oldies, and pretty much everything else! I love music!

Extracurricular Activities: Swim team, Green Club, Photography Club, Hillcrest Hurricane newspaper staff, Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church Youth Group and Youth Mission Board

Hobbies: writing, swimming, photography

Siblings: Cole Morgan, 7th grader

Valirie is interested in pursuing a career in journalism, and eventually be a reporter for a major newspaper.

As a Scholastic Kid Reporter, she hopes to learn new styles of writing and continue to improve her writing skills.

When asked about the opportunity to report from the front lines of the 2008 presidential election, Valirie says, "I think the opportunity is amazing. It is so cool to be able to interview and be in close proximity to presidential candidates and important people. Also, I think kids should be interested in this election because environmental issues, health care, immigration, and many of the other controversial issues candidates discuss—and will ulitmately decide on when one of them is president—have just as much to do with kids as they do adults."
