The Best Small Town in the World

I live in the town of Midland, Texas. Midland is only fifteen miles away from another small town called Odessa so when people are referring to Midland and Odessa together, they sometimes call the region Midessa. Midland is a very small town with a population of about 100,000 people.
One thing that most people don’t know about Midland is that President George W. Bush grew up here. The house that he grew up in is now a historical monument in our town.
In my town there are four places that most people like to spend time—the movies, the skating rink, the mall, and Washington Park. When people go to the movies, they may or may not take a friend. Then after the movie you can go play games upstairs.
People of all ages go to the skating rink to have fun. On Fridays, after school, my friends and I go to the skating rink. The Midland Park Mall has many different stores and a small food court where you can get ice cream, pizza, hamburgers and giant cookies. Even though the mall is very small, it is a fun place to visit.
Washington Park is a water park. It has a kiddy pool, water slide and a diving board. When it is hot during the summer, people of all ages go to Washington Park to cool off. There are some rules that Washington Park enforces that some people don’t like: you can only wear white T-shirts with no color on them, and if you go down the water slide you must go feet first. Washington Park is fun, but there are a lot of rules to follow.
Another great thing about Midland is that, every so often, Midland has a dance for certain grade levels. The dances are fun and exciting. Midland, Texas, is the best small town in the world. I am proud to be from Midland!
