Mariam has two sisters. She is a part of her school's Student Council, the John Hopkin’s University Center for Talented Youth, and the Future Scientists and Engineers of America.

Mariam would most like to be a veterinarian when she is older, because she loves animals and wants to help and take care of them.

As a Scholastic Kid Reporter, Mariam hopes to "learn how to writer interesting articles and learn more about the world." She can't wait to be in the middle of all the action in the front lines of the 2008 presidential election. Mariam believes that students should be interested in this election because "the next president has the power to make a difference in our lives. She believes that the next president who is elected will make our history, and so, students should take an interest."
