Bio

Lisa Yee has always loved to read. During her high school years in Los Angeles, she would sometimes ditch class and sneak off to the library. (Okay, so she never quite figured out the juvenile delinquent thing.) She decided to be a writer when she was in the fifth grade, and she studied English literature in college. Lisa later became the co-owner and creative director of Magic Pencil Studios, a strategic creative company, where she did everything from writing restaurant menus and TV specials to leading creativity seminars for dairy farmers.

With the publication of Millicent Min, Girl Genius, Lisa realized her lifelong dream of becoming an author. The book won the prestigious Sid Fleischman Humor Award and has over 400,000 copies in print. It was followed by Stanford Wong Flunks Big-Time and So Totally Emily Ebers — two novels featuring the same characters during the same time period as Millicent Min, but written from completely different points of view. Lisa has also written a novel for teen readers, Absolutely Maybe, and the first two books in a new chapter-book series, Bobby vs. Girls (Accidentally). Warp Speed, the Stanford Wong spin-off about a Star Trek geek who gets beat up everyday, is her most recent novel.

Lisa Yee currently lives in South Pasadena, California, with her husband, two children, and a rambunctious dog. To learn more about her, please visit her website and check out her blog for (practically) up-to-the-minute details on all her exploits.
