Bio

Lee Miller is the author of the adult bestseller, Roanoke: Solving the Mystery of the Lost Colony.  Her most recent book is Roanoke: The Mystery of the Lost Colony.  Written in an exciting mystery format, young readers can follow the clues just like a detective.  "I wanted to tackle the Lost Colony mystery," Miller recalls, having lived for a time on Roanoke Island. Her research took her to England, Wales, and Indian reserves in Canada. 

Miller is something of a whirlwind. While writing books, she is in law school, cares for injured animals, and is an avid tree grower, operating a nursery of 30 different kinds of native trees. Miller fully expects to be operating a wildlife sanctuary and rehabilitation center, several living history museums, conduct a law practice devoted to environmental, indigenous, and eminent domain concerns...and write. Miller has the energy to do it all. Along with her fiance and fellow writer/historian Darren Bonaparte, she is making plans for an Indian Conference center, which they describe as a Westinghouse of ideas for Iroquoian studies.

Miller began her career writing for Kevin Costner, who contacted her after he had seen her on an interactive CD rom at the 1990 World Expo in Spain. "I had been interviewed for a documentary about Columbus. My piece was lively and a little saucy because I had just survived smashing into a too-clean sliding door at the hotel where it was filmed," Miller laughs. The interview came out so well they used the clip in Barcelona where Kevin saw it. After acting as the Head of Research and a writer for Costner's CBS miniseries 500 Nations, Miller published a companion book for the show, From the Heart, and her script pages were turned into another companion book, 500 Nations. Miller then spent a month in Cairo writing a TV special for FOX, at the recommendation of her longtime friend, actor Tony Dow.

Lee Miller currently lives in upstate New York.
