What flavor do you think of when you hear ice cream? Vermont is the home of Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory. They have flavors from Fish Food and Chunky Monkey to Napoleon Dynamite. That's only one of the things that make Vermont and my community special.
Another thing that is special about Vermont is that you really notice the change of seasons here. Winter is special because it is the only season that you can sled, ski, snowboard, and go snow machining. Spring is special because of the spring peepers. Spring peepers are little frogs in the water singing. Summer is special because people come from all over to hike in the Green Mountains. Fall is special because the leaves change colors and fall off the trees. This is called fall foliage.
A little closer to where I live my community is the home of Crystal Lake. Over Crystal Lake is a statue, and every time we go past it, I like to look at. It is the statue of Jesus.
I am able to dance in my community. We do recitals in June and competitions in December. We are getting ready for competition now. I dance five times a week and it is fun.
In my community my Uncle Bill owns the beef jerky plant. He has taken me on a tour around the place. It is really cool. Since I'm his niece, he gives me free beef jerky when I go there.
You might like Ben & Jerry's ice cream but you haven't tasted anything until you try Vermont's Maple Syrup on vanilla ice cream. People from all over the world are fans of Vermont's Maple Syrup.
You may think Vermont is a small state but inside it has a lot of special things going on in it. Other people come to enjoy what Vermont has to offer. To me Vermont is a place I am proud of. Vermont is my state, my community, and my home. It is where I want to be.
