Thank you all for your comments. I tried to set this up in a context where it was understood that I am speaking as both a teacher and a parent (remember, the "Helicopter/Doer/Know-It-All" one). I meant no offense. I am writing from my own experience (the Common sightings are my common sightings). I have met many, many wonderful parents in my teaching career, but didn’t think I needed to include guidelines for a parent-teacher meeting with them.
