Meghan,
I started reading this at work and finally got back to it. Very interesting and I'm surprised there's no comments.
Well, I'm commenting because I think we obviously have something in common. (Motivating kids to tell a story; You chose Civil Rights and I've chosen STEM education). Both use technology in a facet that allows the kids to use computers for something other than games.
For the last 3 years, I have done an aspect of my STEM program called VOICES that actually has multiple meanings. (Voices of Industry Companies Enlightening Students and getting the students to voice their STEM experiences through video capture, editing and uploading to You Tube. (They use Microsoft Movie Maker too). Right now there's about 30 videos - Do a You Tube search for South Union CDC and they should all appear.
