Teachers that work under the conditions as the writer describes them have my unlimited respect and admiration. I think your suggestions, especially regarding testing and expanded curricula and creativity are important. Among the other things I would change is the business model that encourages administrators to be trained and selected outside of those with a record of teaching. I think a twenty something administrator with little more than student teaching is simply wrong. It takes surviving a decade or two in the trenches to develope the gut level responses needed. The business model and outcome based education have been a travesty. Both need trashcanned. The writer's suggestions are a good start.
