Ooooh "Mystery Readers"... I can sense the excitement building already. It sounds like literacy and the home-school connection are important to your daughter's teacher. Fantastic! The year is off to an amazing start.
If you want to have some fun with the kids, I suggest you read a book that invites them to get in on the action. For example, Mo Willems', Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, will have them screaming, "NOOOOOO !!" each time the pigeon asks to get behind the wheel. The book is just the right length to keep their attention and will have everyone giggling the whole way through.
When you finally decide on a book to share with the class, take the time to familiarize yourself with it before you read it in front of the children. (Same rule goes for teachers, too!)
It's wonderful to see parents getting involved in literacy! I hope to hear more about your visit to the classroom.
