I LOVE Dr. Seuss. I work with 3-5yr. old students; some who have developmental delays.
One Fish Two fish Fishing:
Slide a paper clip to each fish. Make a fishing pole by attaching a string to a magnet wand. You can also use a string with one end tied to a ruler and the other tied to a magnet. Have students "fish" for matching colors or for opposites. I have a picture card & word on each fish to help identify the word when opposite fishing.
Wacky Wednesday: Alternate items in the classroom or other areas of the school and have students look for what is "wacky". Walk around with 1 shoe on, turn a poster upside down or sideways, put the clock on the floor, stick shoe prints on the wall or ceiling. Be creative and encourage other staff members to join in the fun. If you are working with older children have them tally how many "wacky" things they can find.
