Brent, We've been doing this for years, but as a way to give back. We call ours an Eduthon. They arrive at 7pm and go home at 7am. They gather sponsors for the evening. The students decide about a month before the event which organization(s) will benefit from our money raised. One year it was a music teacher who lost his home to a fire and another year we split it between St. Jude's and the researchers in our state trying to find a cure for the white-nosed bat syndrome. Every year it is something different. We organize the night similar to yours by alternating between and educational activity and a team-building activity. It has been lots of fun and the students love to give back!
