Good tips! As a special education teacher, nearly all my students are highly distractible and I have found that the visual distractions are the most problematic. So often, classrooms have nearly every vertical surface covered with posters, charts, etc. The first thing I suggest to colleagues is that they eliminate all non-essential things from their walls. Bring out the chart that relates to the lesson and refer to it as you teach, but then put it away until it is needed again.
