I like the simplicity of the ability assessments that you use with your students, which is needed for the younger students. I also like how you mentioned to focus on what the students can do rather than on what they cannot.
The different skills that you listed for the different reading levels is also helpful because it focuses on the things that the students should be able to do to be put in a certain reading level. The book suggestions you give for the different levels is also helpful because you give different characteristics of what the books should have in them to be developmentally appropriate. This would allow teacher to use a variety of books with the students which helps keep the students engaged as well as it exposes them to a different variety of books.
The information you give for the different questioning and reading strategies is helpful for new and veteran teachers. I know I will be revisiting this blog numerous times over the next school year! Thank you for all of the information and advice for reading with younger students :)
