My first cooperating teacher taught me an invaluable lesson... always have an activity at your classroom parties. This year for Valentine's Day we had a Physical Properties Scavenger Hunt. My first graders have been studying the physical properties of matter. So on Valentine's Day I made a list of properties I knew they would encounter during our party (sweet, sour, hard, crunchy, etc.) The kids who found examples of all the properties on the sheet won a special Valentine's Day Lollipop.
