Since 1978, Hurd has written and illustrated more than 15 books for children, and has illustrated books by other authors, as well. Together with his wife, Olivia Hurd, Thacher Hurd founded Peaceable Kingdom Press, a publisher of greeting cards featuring illustrations from children's books.
