About This Book

In a beginning chapter book, the author remembers fondly his childhood days spent in the central highlands of Vietnam. Describing the people and animals of his village, the focus is on his special friendship with the water buffalo. The two face the dangers of life in the Vietnamese jungle, and Nhuong must endure the death of his beloved animal companion in a military skirmish.
