About This Book

Third-grader Cameron Thompson loves a good mystery. And when someone goes and paints graffiti on the walls of Pecan Springs Elementary School, Cameron is eager to prove that he's a great detective, just like his dad.

Joining Cameron on the case is his best friend, Tarann Johnson, who also happens to be the smartest kid in class. Their prime suspect is Miguel Oliveras, a new student who has just moved from Houston with his mother and big brother. The evidence is varied, from a set of thumbprints to the arrival of the GQ Posse, a new gang in the neighborhood. Miguel's older brother is thought to be a member and Cameron's father, who specializes in dealing with gang-related crimes, is sure he's seen Miguel and his brother before.

Cameron and Tarann's gathering of clues is sure to encourage young readers to analyze details and use their critical thinking skills to try and solve the case themselves. Angela Shelf Medearis writes an engaging mystery that teaches kids a few necessary lessons about the dangers of gang activity in schools or at home.
