About This Book
Based on the screenplay for the blockbuster movie, this adaptation of The Sixth Sense puts the "novel" back in the word "novelization." Peter Lerangis, whose many books for children and young adults include original fiction as well as adaptations, delves into both the heart of the film and the heart of each of the characters. He successfully creates a well-balanced, moving novel that will enhance fans' appreciation of the story; however, this novel can still be appreciated, without viewing the movie.
Young Cole has a problem: he sees the ghosts of dead people wherever he goes. Haunted in every sense of the word, he can't bear to share the weight of his secret with his devoted mother, and so he puts up a wall to shut her out. It's his psychiatrist, Dr. Crowe, in whom Cole finally confides, and who has the strength to help the boy deal with the terror only he can see. Delving into the motivations of each character and dramatizing a few scenes that were ultimately dropped from the movie, Lerangis has written an account that is almost more vivid than the original.
