About This Book
The Pledge of Allegiance was written in 1892 by a man named Francis Bellamy for a children's magazine called The Youth's Companion. Mr. Bellamy wanted the flag to fly above every school in America so that children would feel pride and love for their country when reciting the words to the Pledge of Allegiance.
Each stunning photograph of laughing children, sweeping landscapes, or furling flags, is surrounded by bold, colorful borders, making this book a visual celebration of the words of America. Endnotes are included regarding the history of this national symbol and discussing its meaning.
