About This Book
One day, Little Bear paints a picture that makes him happy and he asks Hen to take it to his Grandmother. Hen does, and Grandmother likes the picture so much that she asks Hen to take a kiss back to Little Bear. But Hen stops to chat with her friends and passes the kiss to Frog. And Frog passes the kiss to Cat.
The kiss ends up with Little Skunk who finds another Little Skunk who likes him, and instead of passing Little Bear's kiss along, the two skunks pass it back and forth between themselves. Hen arrives to finally reclaim the kiss for its intended receiver, but not before the two Little Skunks decide to get married and ask Little Bear to paint another picture in honor of their wedding.
Else Holmelund Minarik's story features cuddly characters that are made all the more loveable by Maurice Sendak's beautiful illustrations. Readers of all ages will marvel at how in his generosity to make a gift for his grandmother, Little Bear unwittingly creates a chain of happiness for everyone around him.
