Louise Borden's previous books include the best-selling Caps, Hats, Socks, and Mittens; The Watching Game, an American Bookseller Pick of the Lists; The Neighborhood Trucker; and Albie the Lifeguard. Ted Lewin has illustrated many books for children including The Day of Ahmed's Secret and Birdwatch, both ALA Notable Children's Books' and I Was A Teenage Professional Wrestler, which he also wrote. Louise Borden began work on her first children's book, Caps, Hats, Socks, and Mittens: A Book About the Four Seasons, when her youngest child began elementary school. Her love of history has come into play in many of the books that have followed, as has her experience with children's thoughts, feelings, and concerns.
