Lois Lowry

Two-time Newbery Medal winner Lois Lowry was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Today she lives and writes in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in a house dominated by a very shaggy Tibetan terrier named Bandit. Her hobbies include gardening, knitting, and photography. Her own photos appear on the covers of her award-winning books Number the Stars and The Giver.

Bagram Ibatoulline

Bagram Ibatoulline was born in Russia and educated at the Moscow State Academic Art Institute. He has illustrated many books for children, including The Adventures of Marco Polo by Russell Freedman, Crow Call by Lois Lowry, and The Granddaughter Necklace by Sharon Dennis Wyeth. Bagram lives in Gouldsboro, Pennsylvania.
