The book Wolf Brother is the first of six books in the series Chronicles of Ancient Darkness, by author Michelle Paver. The story is about 12-year-old Torak, his wolf companion and their friend Renn. Torak fights evil to save his world, a world of prehistoric clans set in the wild more than 6,000 years ago. (That’s after the Ice Age and before farming.)
Torak faces natural and supernatural evil forces as his courage and will are challenged in very exciting ways. He experiences love and loss, terror and comfort, sacrifice and reward, and true friendship along the way.
Wolf Brother is the kind of book you get lost in and can’t put down because you have to know what’s going to happen next. The story has incredible details that make it fun and exciting and interesting to read. Paver is a great storyteller and because of that when you read the story, it’s like you’re running in the forest with a wolf alongside you.
I’ve already started on the second book in the series, Spirit Walker. I am very curious to know who the crippled wander is, a very important figure to the plot introduced in the first book. I thought I knew, but at the end of Wolf Brother, I discovered I was mistaken. I wonder if it will be revealed in the second book?
If you love adventure and cliffhanging suspense, you have to read this incredible book!
