1 | “Furry” Friends
In honor of What’s Your Favorite Animal?, the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art invites kids to submit original artwork depicting their own favorite animals, from hedgehogs to kangaroos. Submissions will be part of a digital exhibition available online and at the museum.

2 | Three Cheers for Art Class
Kids with a knack for the visual arts can enter digital images of their work in the Celebrating Art contest for a chance to win more than $5,000 in prizes.

3 | Power of the Pen
The theme of this year’s Patriot’s Pen contest is “Why I Appreciate America’s Veterans.” Students in grades 6–8 are encouraged to reach out to veterans as they research their essays. Top prize is $5,000 and a trip to Washington, D.C.

4 | Let Freedom Ring!
September 17 is U.S. Constitution Day. Celebrate by encouraging kids to enter the annual poster design contest. Students may submit handmade posters illustrating the ways in which the U.S. Constitution has impacted them. The grand prize is a $200 U.S. savings bond.
DEADLINE: October 1

5 | Build for Tomorrow
Hosted by the American Road & Transportation Builders Association, the Transportation Video Contest invites students to share their imaginative ideas on the future—and present—of transportation in the U.S. The top two videos will each receive prizes of $500 in cash.

6 | Kids for the Cure
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way in how the world understands, treats, and defeats childhood cancer and other deadly diseases. Support this important work and give your students an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of fellow students by organizing a St. Jude school fundraiser today.

7 | Back-to-School Buys

The Mockingbird Foundation aims to promote music education for kids. Grants of between $100 and $5,000 can be used to fund instruments, performance space, and more.

12 | From Failure to Promise
How would $500 help your students become success stories? Share your ideas for a chance to win a mini-grant from Dr. C Moorer & Associates and encourage kids to aim for the stars!

13 | The STEM of Creativity
Grades 6–12 STEM teachers are invited to submit creative project ideas to the Toshiba America Foundation for a chance to receive $5,000 or more. Funds can be used to purchase materials in support of proposals.

14 | Green Grants
Promote service learning and environmentalism in your community by applying for a Project Learning Tree GreenWorks! grant. The program offers up to $1,000 for schools with innovative ideas for eco-friendly class projects, from streamside restoration to recycling programs.

15 | Healthy Habits
Nominate your school to win up to $15,000 plus a one-year supply of Lysol Wipes and No-Touch Hand Soap. Share how your school encourages kids to practice healthy habits for a chance to win.
