As part of Scholastic’s Celebrate Winter Holidays online activities, students can Send a Holiday eCard to friends and family.

First, they select a theme:

  • Christmas
  • Hanukkah
  • Kwanzaa
  • Winter

Then, they choose a bit of trivia to include on their eCard. Here is an example:

The tradition of sending Christmas cards began in England in the 1840s with the ‘Penny Post,’ when the cost of a stamp was reduced to a penny. Before long, Christmas cards were printed, a tradition that spread to America. Today, Americans send nearly two billion Christmas cards to friends and family every year.
