Computer Lab Activities
Science Labeling: A Maggie’s Earth Adventures Activity
Where is the Earth's crust? What are anthers on a flower? Students pick a structure, study its parts, then prove what they’ve learned.
- Grades: 1–2, 3–5
Scholastic’s “Science Labeling” interactive activity, one of Maggie's Earth Adventures, challenges students to memorize the various parts of a structure – with limited time.
First, students choose a structure:
- Structure of a Flower
- Anatomy of a Fish
- Respiratory System
- Atmosphere Layers
After studying a diagram of the structure and it parts, students must match the correct parts within the diagram.
Sample structure – the flower – and its parts:
- Filament
- Anthers
- Petal
- Stigma
- Style
Students can also play this activity in Spanish.
Learning Objectives
While participating in the “Science Labeling” activity, students become proficient with several of these skills.
- Use Web technology to practice science skills
- Track progress on different skill sets
- Identify scientific structures
- Subjects:Early Science, Plant Structure, Animal Structure and Movement
