Native Americans Did It First: A Listen and Read Book, Level A
Early readers learn about Native American inventions, from the hammock to kayaks, in this brief story that includes text, audio, and photos.
- Grades: PreK–K, 1–2
In “Native Americans Did It First” — a Listen & Read nonfiction story for early readers — students learn a few of the things Native Americans invented, including maple syrup, lacrosse, hammocks, and kayaks. This reading activity includes text, images, and audio, so students can read along while listening to a narrator.
At the end of the story, a Sound It Out section lets students listen to these vocabulary words a second time: hammocks, paddle, syrup, and throw.
