National Parks: A Math Hunt Activity
While students enjoy the scenery at America’s great sites, they have to keep an eye out for facts that will help them solve math problems
- Grades: 3–5, 6–8
In “National Parks” (grades 5–8), an online learning activity from Scholastic’s Math Hunt series, students search for facts that will help them answer five math problems about Liberty State Park, the Everglades, and more incredible sites.
In addition to challenging students’ reading comprehension skills, “National Parks” tests these “math hunting” skills:
- Addition/Subtraction
- Averages
- Converting Units of Measurement
- Decimals & Percentages
- Ratio & Proportion
- Reading a Map Scale
