The “Martin Luther King Jr.: The Legacy of a Leader” interactive activity shares incredible photos of the famous activist.

Photographer Benedict Fernandez met Martin Luther King Jr. less than a year before the great civil rights leader was killed by an assassin's bullet. During his last days, Fernandez snapped some of the most illuminating images of the man and his turbulent times.

  • Click through the slideshow to see a selection of Fernandez's photographs, which show King as a father, a husband, and an activist whose battles have taken their toll.
