The “It’s About Us” online project is provided by the U.S. Census Bureau and offers a fascinating study of the results of the 2010 Census.
Through articles, videos, interactive maps, and activities, students learn what the Census is, how the 2010 Census was conducted, and why it’s necessary. Students can see the demographic profiles of each state, and get an understanding of how those numbers affect government – from how budgets are awarded based on population to how many seats in the House of Representatives each state is entitled to.
Lessons plans and activities are available for all age groups, from grades K through 12.
