Holidays Around the World: A Math Hunt Activity
This activity puts students’ online research and math skills to the test by posing five questions about how the world celebrates the holidays.
- Grades: 3–5, 6–8
In “Holidays Around the World” (grades 5–8), a learning activity from Scholastic’s Math Hunt series, students go on an online fact-finding mission to answer five multiple-choice, math-related questions about the winter holidays and how the world celebrates them.
In addition to challenging students’ reading comprehension skills, “Holidays Around the World” tests these “math hunting” skills:
- Addition/Subtraction
- Converting Units of Measurement: Converting Units of Time
- Fractions: Division with Fractions
- Multiplication/Division
- Numerical Sequences
Sample Question:
