Created with Grolier online, the “History of Women’s Suffrage” activity offers students background articles related to the women's suffrage movement, plus an interactive quiz that tests them on content and vocabulary.

  • Women’s Suffrage: Students learn how women scored the right to vote in the United States, Great Britain, and beyond. A glossary of related terms – “ballot,” “petition,” “picket,” and more – is included.
  • 19th Amendment: Students can read a brief article on the 1920 amendment that granted men and women equal voting rights. A glossary – including “abolish,” “amendment,” “ratification,” and more – is available.
  • Show What You Know: This multiple-choice, 10-question quiz tests students’ reading comprehension and vocabulary. Sample question: “What was the first country to give women the right to vote -- Australia, England, New Zealand, or the Unites States?”
