Letter Scavenger Hunt
What letters can you locate?
What you need:
• lined paper
• ruler
• pencil
What to do:
1. Ask your child to write her name in large letters across the top of a sheet of lined paper. Be sure to leave space between the letters.
2. Next, form columns that extend the length of the page by using a ruler to draw lines in between the letters.
3. Invite your child to hunt around the house for words beginning with the letter in each column. Decide together where she can look for words — words that name objects, words that are on labels, names of family members or pets, names of people in pictures, and so on.
4. The goal is to have at least one word in each column. Alternatively, you can challenge your child to find two, three, or any number of words in a letter column. She could also create similar sheets using the names of other family members or friends.
Learning Benefits:
• spelling
• observation skills
