THE POWER OF GREEN 2015 STUDENT CONTEST

Students in grades K–8 are invited to enter The
Power of Green 2015 Student Contest and tell
us: How do you and your family save energy
at home?


Deadline
Entries must be postmarked by May 18, 2015,
and received by June 1, 2015.

Eligibility
The Contest is open to students in grades K–8
who attend school in New York City or Westchester
County, New York.

How to Enter
To enter, each student must:
  • Create an original piece of artwork on a sheet of 8½" x 11" paper that demonstrates how he or she and his or her family save energy at home. Entrants may submit a poster, comic strip, drawing, collage, or painting.

  • Write an essay of up to 200 words describing his or her artwork and how his or her family works together to save energy.

  • Complete the entry form, securely attach it to the contest entry, and mail it to the address on the form.

Prizes
Students will be judged in three grade groups: grades K–2, grades 3–5, and grades 6–8.

One Grand Prize Student Winner from each grade group will receive:
  • A day trip to New York City for a family of four with planned cultural activities and events.

  • Round-trip transportation to and from the winner's front door.

  • Lunch and dinner in NYC!
(Note: Trip itinerary to be planned at the time of prize fulfillment. See Official Rules for restrictions and details.)

The school of each Grand Prize Student Winner (for a total of three schools) will receive a classroom library of Scholastic books worth $1,000.

The teacher of each Grand Prize Student Winner (for a total of three teachers) will receive a $150 gift card to the Scholastic Store online.

Six Student Runners-Up (two from each grade group) and their teachers (for a total of six students and six teachers) will each receive a $50 gift card to the Scholastic Store online.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Void where prohibited. The Contest is open to students in grades K–8 who are enrolled in public schools, accredited private schools, or home schools in compliance with the laws of the students’ primary state of residence and who are legal residents of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Connecticut and attend school in New York City or Westchester, New York. Approximate retail value of all prizes: $11,550.
